With Brawl on the way in just a couple months, I took some time to go through each of the current Standard sets that will be legal for Brawl. Below are a few cards from each color worth spending a Wildcard for in your Brawl decks. These cards are guaranteed to be played in a high majority of Brawl decks and remember, you only need to craft one for your collection! Here we go!

Colorless

Tome of the Guildpact

Ramp and card draw are two of the strongest parts of Brawl and Tome of the Guildpact has both in one card. This card will be great for any three color or more decks (Niv-Mizzet Reborn, anyone?) and will be a sneaky value engine that most will let stay on the battlefield, to their regret.

Scrabbling Claws

This card seems insignificant, but this card single handily shuts down any graveyard shenanigans and, whenever you need, draws you a card for a small cost. Scrabbling Claws will see a lot of play against cards like Command the Dreadhorde, Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord, Blood for Bones, Brought Back, and anything with Jump-Start

Green

Guardian Project

This card really says "whenever a creature enters the battlefield, draw a card." The beauty of singleton makes this card amazing. I was surprised to see I hadn't opened one in my own collection, so I'll be crafting this card right after I get my Chulane, Teller of Tales for that sweet, sweet value.

End-Raze Forerunner

This card ends games. He's the Standard equivalent of Craterhoof Behemoth and it won't surprise me at all when players use mana dorks, Leyline of Abundance, and Finale of Devastation to search of End-Raze Forerunner for the win. Even outside that set of cards, these pigs mean business in creature heavy green decks.

Red

Skarrgan Hellkite

Dragons are cool. Dragons that take out others cards are really cool. Skarrgan Hellkite will take out your pesky mana dorks and planeswalkers that are just chilling on the battlefield for a mere four mana. Give this dragon a shot, he'll be worth it.

Burning-Tree Vandal

I have a soft spot in my heart for this card. I've run it in Standard a bunch and, because it's so easy to kill, I've started to cut it. Having a loot effect on a red card is pretty awesome, especially when it's reoccurring. I think it'll see more play than you think in creature based red decks for its draw ability.

White

Lumbering Battlement

"Enter the battlefield", one of my favorite phrases in Magic (a close second to "draw"). Lumbering Battlement will be an easy include in any creature based white decks and will be well worth the Rare Wildcard for all those extra enter the battlefield effects. All aboard the Party Bus!

Hero of Precinct One

Everyone's just waiting for this card to be crazy good and Brawl is a good place for it to happen. Casting multicolor cards in Standard is much tough with quicker games and strict mana bases, but Brawl opens the door to slower games and a wider variety of mana options to cast more multicolor cards.

Black

Ill-Gotten Inheritance

This card will eventually end the game. Control decks running black will enjoy the life gain and constant damage for a small upfront fee of four mana. Chandra is already being used a lot in Standard, but she costs two more mana for a permanent damage tick and "can't be countered" text. Ill-Gotten Inheritance costs only a Common Wildcard instead of a Mythic.

Priest of Forgotten Gods

One of the best sacrifice enabling cards in Standard. I know there's many people who wish this was a legendary creature so they could run it as their commander. The trick will be getting this card out of your deck, but once she's there, your deck will be cooking with Crisco.

Blue

Mass Manipulation

Mass Manipulation costs a lot of mana, but the ceiling this card is real high. Taking just one permanent is already a two for one, any more is just gravy. There aren't many cards in Standard that return stolen creatures to their owner's without using up a card (see Trostani Discordant), so I'm sure you'll see a lot of success with Mass Manipulation.

Precognitive Perception

I love drawing cards. A lot. Precognitive Perception draw cards, but if you play it during your main phase, you get to see what you're going to draw first and decide whether you want it or not. This card is great in control and aggressive blue decks, an easy Rare Wildcard for your Brawl decks.

Multicolor

Ravager Wurm

It hurts to spend Mythic Wildcards, but Ravager Wurm will make it worth it. Ravager Wurm is a flexible, two for one card every time you play it, unless your opponents board is empty, in which case you get to hit for four damage no matter what. I think Ravager Wurm will carry its weight in Wildcards in your red and green decks.

Growth Spiral

As stated with Tome of the Guildpact, ramp and card draw are two of the strongest parts of Brawl and Growth Spiral has both in one card. This will be the easiest Common Wildcard you'll ever spend (well, except for Arcane Signet, but that's a different set).

Theater of Horrors

There are many great cards that need your opponent to take damage to trigger "Spectacle" and Theater of Horrors is near the top of the list for Brawl. Drawing cards is a good thing and Theater does every turn. Having a mana sink in later turns is awesome as well, this card can end games.

Kaya's Wrath

Four mana board wipes are really strong. The casting cost is a little steep, but hitting double colors in Brawl is a lot easier than standard. You won't regret having a board wipe for any aggressive or tribal decks that will be played a lot in Brawl.

Mortify

You won't whiff with Mortify, there's always something to destroy in Brawl. Mortify is a great, cheap, removal card for any problematic enchantments or creatures. This is an easy Uncommon to craft, you'll definitely get your money's worth.

Heads or Tails?

There's my thoughts on Ravnica Allegiance cards that will be will worth your Wildcards. There are many awesome cards in this set that will fit great roles for decks, but I imagine we'll see these cards in most cards of their color.

"Call  it in the air!"

Leave a comment with either:

Heads: I disagree with one or more of your card choices. Here's what I think instead.

-or-

Tails: I think you're right on! And don't forget about these cards.

Take a look through your Ravnica Alliegance collection and see what cards are going to be used in every deck you make of those colors. Remember, you only need one copy of those cards to use them in all your decks, hurray for digital collections!
